Neil Patrick Harris’ wish to appear in “American Horror Story: Freak Show” is co-creator Ryan Murphy’s command.
Harris told EW Radio that he penned a letter to Murphy asking to be on the new season of the FX series.
“I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn’t even available to be in it,” Harris admitted. “To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can’t wait!”
Murphy took to Twitter on Friday to extend an invite.
@ActuallyNPH of course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you’d love.

“How I Met Your Mother” has taken its final bow and Harris will be departing his Tony-winning Broadway musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” on Aug. 17 so his schedule may have room for another project.
The majority of season three’s “AHS” cast, including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett, will return for “Freak Show.” The new season — set in 1950s Jupiter, Florida — premieres this fall.
