NBC has given series orders to a trio of femme-led comedies: “One Big Happy,” “Mission Control” and “Bad Judge”

Warner Bros. TV sitcom “One Big Happy” was penned by Liz Feldman (“2 Broke Girls”) who exec produces with director Scott Ellis for Ellen DeGeneres’ WBTV-based Very Good Production banner. Elisha Cuthbert, Nick Zano, Brandon Smith, Rebecca Corry and Chris Williams star.

Cuthbert plays a gay woman who decides to have a baby with her longtime best friend, who complicates the situation by getting married to a free-spirited woman.

“Mission Control” stars Krysten Ritter as a female engineer battling the boy’s club in the 1960s space program. David Hornsby wrote the pilot and exec produces for Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Prods. and Universal TV.

“Bad Judge” stars Kate Walsh as a L.A. criminal courts judge who has an edgy personal life. It’s also from the Gary Sanchez Prods. shop, written by Chad Kultgen.

The three comedy orders coming on Friday on top of four already in the works raise the question of how NBC intends to schedule all of its half-hours. It has struggled mightily with half-hours on Thursday this season, raising speculation that it might shift to a combo of dramas and unscripted fare on the night.
