MTV is strengthening its executive ranks, hiring Elli Hakami as exec vice prez of current series and programming.
In her new post, Hakami is responsible for the creation and development of MTV’s east coast current reality series. She will report to programming prez Susanne Daniels, and be based in Gotham.
Hakami has served as senior veep of programming and production at BBC Worldwide Prods., developing and exec producing programs including “What Not to Wear” and “Life Below Zero.” She has also led development in Discovery’s New York and Los Angeles offices, with shows launched during her tenure including “Gold Rush: Alaska” and key “Shark Week” specials.
“Over the course of her career, Elli has built a great reputation for delivering incredibly rich and diverse programming during her time with BBC Worldwide Productions, Discovery Channel, TruTV and more,” said Daniels. “Her expertise and instincts for finding and developing unique unscripted shows and franchises will be an amazing addition to our creative team at MTV.”
