Viacom has cut a multi-year pact with Amazon Prime in the U.K. for rights to “Awkward,” “Kung Fu Panda” and four other shows from MTV and Nickelodeon.
Deal gives Amazon Prime exclusive U.K. access to the shows, which include “Legend of Awesomeness,” “Penguins of Madagascar,” “Winx Club,” “Legend of Korra” and “The Hard Times of RJ Berger.” The pact also gives Amazon Prime a non-exclusive renewal of a host of older Viacom shows, including “Dora the Explorer.”
Content licensing deals and production pacts are pouring out of the Croisette today as the Mipcom international sales market kicks off in Cannes. Among the notable announcements:
- FremantleMedia has nabbed global format rights, excluding France, to the hypnotism reality show “Stars Under Hypnosis,” from Satisfaction.
- Shine Intl. has set a co-production pact with China’s Hunan TV for an adaptation of its docu-series format “The School,” which has spawned three series in the U.K. It’s expected to launch in China next year.
- Keshet Intl. has sold its domestic comedy format “Your Family or Mine” to Greece’s Alpha TV.
- Germany’s Red Arrow Intl. has sold pay TV and SVOD rights to its drama series “100 Code,” starring Dominic Monaghan, to HBO Nordic, covering Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway.
