Todd Holland and Karey Nixon Burke’s Dark Toy Entertainment has signed a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios, Variety has learned.

The producing partners, who had previously been under overall deals with Universal TV, recently finished the pilot “The Pro.” A co-production at ABC Studios for NBC that Holland directed, the project stars Rob Lowe and Rob Riggle. Other shared credits include NBC’s “Go On” and “Free Agents.” They are also developing a scripted comedy for AMC based on the Andrea Abbate play “Random Acts.”

“We had a fantastic experience working with them on ‘The Pro’ and are so excited to work with them developing both comedy and drama projects for the studio,” said ABC Studios head Patrick Moran.

The duo met on ABC’s “Miss/Guided,” which Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg’s Katalyst shingle developed with 20th Century Fox TV. Burke, a former NBC creative exec, was with Katalyst and Holland was under contract at 20th Century Fox TV at the time.

“We’re the dirty laundry company,” says Holland. “We both love when writers bring in their real stories with all the awkward juiciness of their real lives, real families, real friends — truth is always funnier than confection.”

The duo is repped by WME and Jackoway Tyerman.
