UPDATED: The fate of Joan Rivers’ E! series “Fashion Police” is uncertain after the death of the pioneering comedian on Thursday at the age of 81.

E! issued the following statement on the future of the show on Thursday: “Right now we are mourning our beloved Joan. We will respond at a later date with programming updates.”

The network had released a statement early Thursday, prior to the announcement of her death, that “Fashion Police” would take a two-week hiatus.

“We will not be producing a ‘Fashion Police’ this week or next as we await Joan and Melissa’s return in front and behind the camera,” E! network said in a statement. “E! will be airing two ‘E! From Fashion Week’ specials that will deliver the latest news and information from the highly-anticipated event.”

Rivers stopped breathing while undergoing a throat procedure in New York City on August 28. She was transported to Mount Sinai hospital where she was placed in a medically induced coma, and has remained on life support ever since. She was moved from Intensive Care Unit into a private room on Sept. 3.
