The season three finale of “Homeland” saw Claire Danes’ troubled CIA agent Carrie Mathison opting to leave her as-yet unborn daughter with her family for a job as station chief in Istanbul.

But what would Istanbul look like through the eyes of the Showtime series?

Variety has an exclusive first look behind the scenes at production of season four of “Homeland” in South Africa, which serves as the shooting location for Washington D.C., Islamabad and Kabul this year. In the video above, cast members including Danes and Mandy Patinkin, and EPs Lesli Linka Glatter and Michael Klick discuss reimagining the show, as well as the challenges of making sure that the new location looks authentic for “Homeland’s” multiple settings.

“Homeland’s” fourth season premieres Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
