Former “How I Met Your Mother” executive producer Kourtney Kang has closed a new two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV, extending her previous three-year pact with the studio.

Under the deal, Kang will serve as co-executive producer on Fox’s freshman comedy “Fresh Off the Boat,” in addition to developing new projects.

“Kourtney was a hugely valuable member of the writing staff of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ since the very first season, so of course we wanted to continue our relationship,” said Jonnie Davis, 20th TV’s President of Creative Affairs. “She’s a fantastic writer who effortlessly melds ‘big funny’ with ‘heart,’ and we all love her here. She’s joining the team led by Natch, Jake and Melvin on ‘Fresh Off The Boat,’ a show we think has incredible potential to be a big, breakout hit, and we are really excited about the areas and stories she wants to tackle on the development side. We couldn’t be happier that she’s staying ‘in the family.'”

Prior to joining “HIMYM,” Kang was a writer on the NBC comedy “Coupling.” She has also sold and developed feature scripts for HBO and Fox.

Kang is represented by UTA and attorney Ken Richman.
