Watch: Inside ‘Hemlock Grove’s’ Wolf Transformation

Netflix has released a new behind-the-scenes clip for its original horror series “Hemlock Grove,” which premiered its second season today.

Executive produced by Eli Roth, “Grove” follows the rich Godfrey family who investigate mysterious acts that involve Peter Rumancek, a werewolf played by Landon Liboiron.

This video focuses on the prosthetics and makeup that go into creating the show’s wolf transformation scenes. In the clip, Liboiron describes how the show’s effects team attempted to improve upon their work from the first season.

“They mixed CGI with actual prosthetics,” he comments. “They created a face for me, and they had an actual wolf prosthetic stretch and rip out of my face. It just looks so much more real.”

The CGI is considered a highlight of the series. In Brian Lowry’s Variety review, he said that, “watching the opening of the second go-round still tips the scales toward so bad — and boring — that it’s just plain bad.”
