Girl Meets World,” the Disney Channel’s follow up to ABC’s 1990s Ben Savage sitcom “Boy Meets World,” has been picked up to a full season before its premiere date.

Danielle Fishel, who reprises her role of Topanga in the new series, Tweeted the news earlier this week, writing “Got the great news tonight that #GirlMeetsWorld was picked up for 8 more episodes – a total of 21! Can’t wait for everyone to see them all.”

The new series, which is overseen by “Boy Meets World” creator/executive producer Michael Jacobs, follows Rowan Blanchard’s Riley Matthews, the daughter of Savage and Fishel’s characters, as she and her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) navigate the challenging worlds of New York City and — perhaps more difficult — middle school. It received a series order of eight episodes last summer.
