To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the “Friends” series premiere, Warner Bros. Television Group, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Eight O’Clock Coffee will team up to offer fans and coffee lovers a unique experience in Manhattan.
A fully functioning replica of Central Perk, the coffee shop frequented by the show’s characters, will headline the celebration and serve free cups of Eight O’Clock coffee to visitors beginning on Sept. 17. Guests will be able to check out signature props from the series in a decorated storefront, relax on the iconic orange “Friends” couch and win prizes.
The pop-up shop will also feature appearances from “Friends” star James Michael Tyler — who regularly recurred on the series as Central Perk’s deadpan barista Gunther — photo ops, in-store musical performances reminiscent of Phoebe’s from the series, contests and giveaways. A limited-edition “Central Perk Roast” has also been created for the occasion.
The shop will host other special activities in conjunction with Eight O’Clock Coffee on Sept. 29, also known as National Coffee Day.
The Central Perk shop will pop up at 199 Lafayette St. and will remain open through Oct. 18, operating weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. “Friends” premiered on NBC on Sept. 22, 1994.
