Fox Intl. Channels is adding to its considerable footprint in Latin America with the launch of the Fox Plus and Fox Play Plus suite of premium entertainment channels.
The Fox Plus premium package to bow Nov. 3 offers seven themed channels — including Fox Movies, Fox Comedy, Fox Action, Fox Classic and Fox Family — serving up titles from various Fox platforms as well as content from outside producers, including Sony Pictures TV’s buzzy fantasy vehicle “Outlander” (pictured), now airing on Starz, and Starz’s pirate romp “Black Sails.”
Fox Play Plus is an authenticated service offering online and VOD access on a multitude of devices to a large archive of movies and TV shows and more than 400 live sporting events.
“We’re redefining the concept of ‘premium’ channels in the region, taking it to a whole new level and offering the best content before anybody else, accessible at any time and place,” said Carlos Martinez, prexy of Fox Intl. Channels Latin America.
Plans for Fox Plus and Fox Play Plus were to be tubthumped Thursday at a newser in Buenos Aires.
Fox already operates 40 channels serving Latin America, and it has two production facilities, Fox Toma 1 in Buenos Airies and Fox Telecolombia in Bogota. Its major competitors in the region among the U.S. majors are outlets operated by Sony, HBO and Viacom.
