Fox Intl. Channels has named Cherry Yates to vice president of corporate communications, a newly created position to streamline communication strategies across FIC’s more than 300 channels, the company announced Wednesday. Yates will also continue in her current role as VP of global communications for National Geographic Channels Intl.
“We speak for two of the strongest global brands in the television business: National Geographic Channel and Fox. My goal is combine the power of each,” said Liz Dolan, exec VP and chief marketing officer for FIC and NGCI, in a statement. “I know from Cherry’s decade of great work at NGCI that she can direct our efforts across our entire FIC portfolio, from factual to scripted to sports.”
Yates joined NGCI in 2004 as publicity manager before serving as director, senior director and VP of communications and marketing. Prior to NGCI, Yates, a Singapore native, managed publicity for Discovery Networks Asia in Singapore, and began her communications career in the hospitality industry with a leading hotel chain in Southeast Asia.
