MTV has given a 12-episode second season order to “Finding Carter,” its popular scripted teen drama about a girl who reunites with her birth family after learning she was abducted.

The show is a ratings hit for 12 to 34 year olds, specifically with teens. MTV reports that the series is averaging a strong 2.0 P12-34 rating and 2.2 million total viewers (live+3). It is the top-streamed new series on MTV.com and on the MTV app.

“The creative minds behind ‘Finding Carter’ did an exceptional job bringing this story to life and drawing our audience in,” said Susanne Daniels, MTV’s president of programming. “I’m looking forward to another season following Carter on her journey.”

“Finding Carter” is executive produced by Terri Minsky (“Carrie Diaries”), Deborah Spera (“Army Wives”), Maria Grasso (“Army Wives”), and Alexander Motlagh (“Single Ladies”), and was created by Emily Silver (“Bones”).

Season one will premiere across MTV’s international channels beginning in January 2015. A season two premiere date has not been set.
