The FCC has set in motion its review of AT&T’s proposed merger with DirecTV, setting deadlines for gathering public comment on whether the proposed transaction is in the public interest.

Comments will be due on Sept. 16, with replies to those comments due on Oct. 16. Responses to those replies are due Nov. 5.

The commission has not said when it will rule on the merger, but it normally starts a 180-day time clock for the review at the time it sets deadlines for comments.

It is now on day 28 of its review of the proposed merger of Comcast with Time Warner Cable, with final comments due on Oct. 8.
