Endemol, one of the world’s largest independent television companies, has inked an exclusive first-look development and distribution deal with U.K. drama producer Mam Tor Prods., which is headed by Tally Garner.
Endemol will provide development funding and deficit financing as part of the three-year deal. Endemol Worldwide Distribution, the world sales arm, will handle international distribution.
Mam Tor was set up in April by Garner, who previously spent over a decade working as a film and TV agent at Curtis Brown, before setting up and running the agency’s in-house production company Cuba Pictures as head of film and TV.
At Cuba, she produced “Boy A,” winner of five television BAFTA awards, and “Broken,” which won best film at the British Independent Film Awards, and exec produced “London Road,” based on the National Theatre play, and BBC’s seven-part adaptation of bestselling novel “Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.”
Cathy Payne, CEO of EWD, said: “We are excited to be entering this relationship with Mam Tor. Tally’s track record of producing award-winning feature films and television combined with her fantastic network within the literary world speaks for itself.”
Garner added: “I am thrilled to be launching Mam Tor Prods. with such a formidable partner and building on the great relationship begun on ‘Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.’ I look forward to continuing to make ambitious television, and am excited to be doing so with Endemol’s world leading expertise and support.”
