The first original series ordered by the nascent Discovery Life Channel will revolve around a group of transgendered friends living in Kansas City.
“Those Girls” will follow four pairs of couples and friends as they navigate the hurdles of transitioning as transgender. Discovery Life will debut on Jan. 15 as a makeover of the channel that is now Discovery Fit and Health. “Those Girls” is scheduled to debut in March.
“ ‘Those Girls’ embodies what Discovery Life Channel is meant to be – a place for people from all walks of life to have their stories told without a filter,” said Jane Latman, g.m. of Discovery Life Channel.
Series is produced by Conveyor Media. Jay James, Colin Whelan, Teri Rogers, Matt Antrim and Eric Streit are exec producers. Caroline Gibbs, head of the Kansas City-based Transgender Institute, is a co-exec producer.
