After a standoff between longtime partners DirecTV and the Weather Channel, DirecTV has officially signed a multi-year deal with WeatherNation.

WeatherNation was launched on channel 361, one channel away from the former Weather Channel position at 362. Now the satcaster will broadcast WeatherNation on both channels.

“This new multi-year agreement strengthens our relationship with WeatherNation and ensures our customers will have a service that is fully committed to providing all weather related information all the time,” said Dan York, chief content officer for DirecTV, in a statement.

Michael Norton, president of WeatherNation added, “We’re looking forward to being a primary TV destination for instant access to the latest weather news, radar imagery, forecasting and severe weather coverage for years to come.”

WeatherNation is dedicated to weather reporting with continuous, HD coverage of current and severe weather news and information and real-time storm tracking, while the Weather Channel provided reality TV programs such as “Coast Guard Alaska,” “Hawaii Air Rescue,” “Highway Thru Hell,” “Hurricane Hunters,” “Lifeguard!” and “Prospectors” in addition to its weather coverage.
