USA Orders More Episodes of ‘Dig,’ Announces Premiere Date

Despite filming complications and a postponed release, USA Network has ordered four additional episode of its upcoming event series “Dig,” bringing the series total to 10 episodes.  The cabler has also announced a premiere date of March 5 for the Middle East-set thriller.

From “Homeland” exec producer Gideon Raff and “Heroes” co-creator Tim Kring, the series tells the story of a murder mystery set in modern-day Jerusalem.  The pilot episode was shot on location, though conflict in the region ultimately forced production to move to Croatia, with interior shots filmed in New Mexico.

“We knew when we saw the exceptional pilot and immersed ourselves into the incredible world of intrigue that Tim and Gideon have created with ‘Dig’ that we wanted more,” said Chris McCumber, president of USA.  “With its multi-layered story, international locations, cinematic production and immensely talented cast –‘Dig’ promises to be a must-watch event series.”

Series stars Jason Isaacs (“Awake”) and Anne Heche (“Save Me”).  From Universal Cable Productions, “Dig” was developed by Keshet in association with Gail Berman and Gene Stein.  Raff and Kring are executive producing, along with Keshet’s Avi Nir (“Homeland”), Alon Shtruzman and Karni Ziv.

“‘Dig’ is not only a major event series, it’s also a major event for our studio.  Tim and Giddy, Gail and Avi have been spectacular partners who are creating a great show under extraordinary circumstances,” said Jeff Wachtel, president and chief content officer at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.  “And it’s always a pleasure to work with the wonderful team at USA.”
