The 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be available only via live streaming this year after the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences failed to secure a TV deal for the kudocast.

The Daytime Emmy ceremony is set for June 22 at the Beverly Hilton.

The kudocast has bounced around various broadcast and cable nets in the past few years — HLN, the CW, CBS — but the failure to secure a TV deal is surprising, given the focus in the TV biz on live, DVR-proof events that generate social media buzz and second screen activity.

NATAS emphasized that the online platform would allow the event to reach a global audience. The Daytime Emmys in recent years have struggled to draw much of a crowd on the domestic front.

The live stream is set to begin at 5 p.m. PT at DaytimeEmmys.net. Spike Jones Jr. is producing the show.
