On a Wednesday where the top show on ABC, CBS and NBC all aired in repeats, Fox emerged the ratings winner with its two-hour “American Idol,” though it again lost out head-to-head to CBS’ “Survivor,” which was the night’s top show.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “Survivor” averaged a 2.2 rating/8 share in adults 18-49 and 9.3 million viewers overall — down slightly from last week but good enough to stand as Wednesday’s top program among adults 18-49, 25-54 (2.9/8) and total viewers. Head-to-head, it beat Fox’s “American Idol” by 16% in 18-49 (2.2 vs. 1.9).

CBS closed the night with repeats of “Criminal Minds” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall) and “CSI” (1.2/4 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall).

Fox Fox, “American Idol” was unable to take advantage of the repeats on the competition from 9 to 10 p.m., though it did win the hour in all categories. The music contest was down a tick from last week’s 18-49 average.

NBC aired back-to-back repeats of “Law & Order: SVU” at 8 (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) and 9 (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall), with the latter 18-49 score the highest for an encore of the series since December 2012. It was followed by a repeat “Chicago PD” (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall).

Univision moved up into a third-place tie with NBC in 18-49, paced by 9 p.m. novela “Lo Que la Vida Me Robo” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall).

ABC went with repeats of “The Middle” (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall), “Suburgatory” (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall), “Modern Family” (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall), followed by an original “Mixology” (1.2/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall), which matched its average of last week. A repeat “Nashville” capped the night (0.7/2 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall).

At CW, “Arrow” (0.7/2 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall) matched its low, and “The 100” (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall) edged up from last week when it had a repeat “Arrow” lead-in.
