Asian Versions of ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘ER’ Planned

Pretty Little Liars,” “Gossip Girl” and “ER” are heading overseas, as WBTV announced today that three of its popular shows have been commissioned and optioned as local versions in the Philippines, Thailand and India, respectively.

The 22-episode Filipino adaptation of the ABC Family’s hot teen drama “Pretty Little Liars” is produced by ABC Development Corporation and is currently in production. It will bow in April on TV5.

Thailand’s Kantana Public Company Limited is producing an 18-episode local adaptation of “Gossip Girl.” The CW sudser that ended its six-season run in 2012 also had a Mexican version, “Gossip Girl Acapulco,” which aired for 25 episodes last year.

Medical drama “ER,” which ran on NBC from 1994 to 2009, is under option in India by Gold Television Network. A Colombian version of the show was recently announced at NATPE and Warner Bros. began selling formal rights to the show in 2012.
