ABC Orders Comedy Pilot ‘Black-ish,’ Drama ‘Clementine’

ABC has picked up the single-camera comedy “Black-ish,” starring Anthony Anderson.

The network has also greenlit drama pilot “Clementine.” from Mark Gordon Co.

Anderson will play an upper middle-class African-American who struggles to raise his children with a sense of cultural identity despite obstacles from his liberal wife, old-school father and his color-blind kids.

Kenya Barris (“The Game”) penned the script and will exec produce with Anderson for ABC Studios and Laurence Fishburne’s Cinema Gypsy banner and Principato-Young Entertainment.

“Clementine,” from ABC Studios, revolves  around a habitual criminal who digs into the mystery of her origins after she becomes the target of a group of zealots who fear she possesses latent supernatural abilities. Pilot was written by Dean Georgaris and is exec produced by Georgaris, Mark Gordon, Nicholas Pepper and Ilene Staple.
