The laughs will keep coming for freshman comedy “Cristela.”
ABC has ordered the back-nine episodes for “Cristela,” starring Mexican-American comedian Cristela Alonzo as a law school graduate who’s trying to become an attorney while balancing the demands of her family.
The 20th Century Fox TV show, which is exec produced by Alonzo along with Kevin Hench, is the second comedy to receive a full-season pickup this year, along with ABC’s “Black-ish.”
It’s been a consistent ratings performer, hovering around a 1.3 rating/5 share in adults 18-49 demo and an average of 6 million viewers in its airings to date in Nielsen’s live-plus-7 measure.
“Cristela” also stars Maria Canals-Barrera, Carlos Ponce, Terri Hoyos, Gabriel Iglesias, Sam McMurray, Justine Lupe, and Andrew Leeds. Executive producers also include Becky Clements, Marty Adelstein and Shawn Levy.
