TF1 Intl. Sells Harlan Coben’s First TV Skein ‘No Second Chance’ (EXCLUSIVE)

PARIS– TF1 International, the sales arm of France’s top commercial network, is upping the ante on original drama series with the acquisition of two high-profile projects: “No Second Chance” and “Call My Agent!” which will be shopped at Mipcom.

“No Second Chance” is an action/thriller mini-series based on Harlan Coben’s eponymous bestseller. Coben is set to showrun “No Second Chance” with Francois Velle (“Bones”) on board to direct. The project marks the first French TV adaptation of a book by Coben. It’s also the author’s first time as showrunner.

The American writer is no stranger to France. He co-wrote Guillaume Canet’s hit thriller “Tell No One” based on his own novel. Back in the States, one of his recent crime novels, “Six Years,” is currently being adapted by Jonathan Stokes for Paramount.

Produced by Sydney Gallonde at VAB Production, “No Second Chance” stars Alexandra Lamy (“Never on the First Night”), Pascal Elbe (“The Other Son”) and Hippolyte Girardot (“The Girl King”).  It has been commissioned by TF1.

“Our ambitious acquisition policy has enabled us to considerably extend our offering in the last few years and generate outlets for French drama in major territories,” said Daniel Preljocaj, CEO of TF1 International. “In addition to the new seasons of highly emblematic TF1 franchises, we are very proud to present international buyers with “Call My Agent !” and “No Second Chance” which are bound to cause a stir.”

A Paris-set comedy mini-series comprising six one-hour episodes, “Call My Agent!” was created by vet French talent agent Dominique Besnehard and Fanny Herrero. It will be directed by star helmer Cedric Klapisch, whose credits include “The Spanish Apartment” and “Chinese Puzzle.” The six-parter turns on a tight-knit and dysfunctional team of Parisian talent agents who battle to get contracts for important clients like Cecile de France and Jeanne Moreau, while juggling their personal lives.

Penned by Klapisch, Lola Doillon and Antoine Garceau, “Call My Agent!” will go into production in November and has been commissioned by pubcaster France Televisions. It’s produced by Mon Voisin Production and Mother Production.

TF1 International’s Mipcom slate also includes the third season of “No Limit,”  created by Luc Besson, and the fifth season of French procedural “Profiling,” as well as new episodes of “Clem, teen mom” and “A wonderful family.”

    TV Review: 'Whiskey Cavalier'

The crux of “Whiskey Cavalier” can be found right in its protagonist’s name. “Will Chase” is a purposefully ridiculous wink of a name that tries to be both debonair and very silly all at once, just like the FBI agent (played by Scott Foley) to which it belongs. This isn’t a regular spy drama, “Whiskey [...]
