LONDON — Sky Vision has pre-sold the crime drama series “Fortitude,” which stars Stanley Tucci, Sofie Grabol, Christopher Eccleston and Michael Gambon, to several leading broadcasters.

Sky Vision, which is the international distribution arm of U.K. pay TV operator BSkyB, has inked deals with Canada’s Super Channel, France’s Canal Plus, Denmark’s TV2, Sweden’s SVT, Finland’s YLE, Norway’s NRK, Iceland’s RUV, Israel’s DBS and Greece’s OTE. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and PBS Distribution have picked up home entertainment rights.

As previously announced, Sky Vision has secured U.S. network Pivot TV as a co-production partner. The series is produced by Fifty Fathoms for BSkyB channel Sky Atlantic. The series is due to premiere on both sides of the Atlantic from early 2015.

“Fortitude” is set in a town in the Arctic, which is one of the safest on Earth. There has never been a violent crime there. Until now. In such a close-knit community a murder touches everyone. As the cold Arctic darkness gives way to endless summer nights, this apparently idyllic community struggles to make sense of the murderous horror that has been let loose in its heart.

Jane Millichip, managing director of Sky Vision, said: ” ‘Fortitude’ delivers global themes with an international cast across a full 12 episodes. It’s gripping television and Fifty Fathoms has delivered a series that we know international drama buyers love.”
