PARIS– Nordic World, the sales banner jointly launched by Nordic broadcasters TV2 Norway and TV4 Sweden, is set to expand into Denmark with an exclusive deal to represent programs from TV2, the country’s leading commercial net.

Under the deal, Nordic World will sell all of TV2’s completed programming, including its latest hit drama, “The Seaside Hotel” (Badehotellet), which is produced SF Production and will be shopped at MipTV. Nordic World will also sell a slate of formats, which has until now been handled by Banijay International.

“The Seaside Hotel,” described as a Downton Abbey-style series, is set in the Roaring Twenties in a holiday hotel in Jutland. It nabbed a 57% share is  TV2’s most successful new drama of the past 15 years.

“TV2 is known for its fresh and original voice and its uncompromising creative standards — as is demonstrated by ‘The Seaside Hotel,’ which we believe is a once-in-a-decade drama,” said Espen Huseby, Nordic World CEO. “To represent programming of this calibre is not only an honour and a responsibility, but it also establishes us as the shop window for the best third-party content on the Nordic market.”

Last week, Nordic World inked a package of first-look deals with five of Northern Europe’s top indie producers. The company also announced it’s in talks to acquire a majority stake in Patty Geneste’s format shingle Absolutely Independent.

Looking to set up a network of creative hubs and alliances across Northern Europe and the U.S., Nordic World also locked an exclusive first-look deal with the London-based format outfit Boxatricks in late January.
