Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia’s hit “Got Talent” show is set for its biggest expansion following a deal with Sony Pictures Television to create “Asia’s Got Talent.”

The new show will debut on Sony’s AXN in early 2015 and involve contestants from 13 countries and territories.

Production for “Asia’s Got Talent” will begin this month with auditions planned in major cities including Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Manila, Philippines; and Bangkok, Thailand.

English-language general entertainment channel, AXN has a footprint which covers 20 territories, including South East Asia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

FremantleMedia has also secured deals with local free-to-air channels in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and India to broadcast the series soon after its original airing on AXN. Chinese digital platform Youku will also carry the show.
