Musical performances from Disney Music Group’s R5, and Disney Channel stars Lucy Hale (“Pretty Little Liars”) and Sabrina Carpenter (“Girl Meets World”) will highlight the TJ Martell Foundation’s sixth annual Family Day fundraiser to battle leukemia, cancer and AIDS. The celebration, which honors patients, their families, care workers and researchers, will be held Nov. 16 on the CBS Back Lot in Studio City. Since its inception, the event, held in New York, Nashville and Los Angeles, has raised close to $5 million for research at nine hospitals across the U.S.
Ken Bunt, president of Disney Music Group, will be on hand to accept this year’s Humanitarian Award. “One of the reasons why I love what I do is that music touches people emotionally, and typically makes them feel better,” Bunt says. “This is not just about the patients — it’s about the entire family, and I think that’s incredible. It’s really an honor to help them.”
