Michelle Obama to Deliver Keynote at Grammy Museum Luncheon

First lady Michelle Obama will deliver the keynote address at a luncheon on July 16 at L.A. Live’s Club Nokia.

The luncheon will honor educator Sunshine Cavalluzi and singer Janelle Monae with the Jane Ortner Education Award.

“Just like this year’s honorees, first lady Michelle Obama knows firsthand the power that music has to transform the lives of young people,” said Grammy Museum executive director Bob Santelli, who cited the seven educational programs Obama has held at the White House where musicians speak to students. The Grammy Museum has helped produce the programs, part of the White House’s “In Performance at the White House” series.

The first lady also will attend a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee on her trip to Los Angeles next week. She is scheduled to raise money at the home of HBO’s Michael Lombardo and architect Sonny Ward on July 15.
