Adam Shankman to Direct ‘Hair’ at the Hollywood Bowl

Adam Shankman has been tapped to helm and choreograph the Hollywood Bowl’s upcoming production of the Tony-winning musical “Hair.”

The Hollywood Bowl will host three performances of “Hair” on Aug. 1-3. Tickets for the 2014 Hollywood Bowl season will be available beginning May 4.

The rock musical first bowed at Broadway’s Biltmore Theatre in 1968.

Shankman, who recently directed the bigscreen adaptations of “Hairspray” and “Rock of Ages,” has also helmed “Prop 8: The Musical” and episodes of “Glee” and “Modern Family” and served as producer for the “Step Up” franchise. He began his career as a dancer and choreographer and appeared in musicvideos for Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul. Shankman became a permanent judge on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance?” in 2009 and was one of the two producers for the 82nd Academy Awards the following year.
