Deal kicks off with “Vendetta,” that Jen and Sylvia Soska will direct. The Soska sisters recently completed “See No Evil 2,” starring WWE’s Kane, that Lionsgate will release this fall. Company will also distribute “Leprechaun: Origins” in August.
“Vendetta,” set to star Paul Wight, otherwise known as WWE’s the Big Show (see above), revolves around a detective who deliberately commits a crime in order to wind up in prison and enact revenge on the man who murdered his wife. Justin Shady wrote the script.
Wight’s film credits include appearances in “Jingle All the way,” a film that WWE is developing a sequel with 20th Century Fox; “The Waterboy,” “MacGruber” and WWE Studios’ own comedy “Knucklehead.”
WWE Studios president Michael Luisi will oversee the films for WWE’s film arm that recently scored with horror film “Oculus,” a co-production with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Prods and Relativity Media.
WWE and Lionsgate have a long history together, having already produced “The Condemned,” with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and the first “See No Evil,” the latter of which was released in 2006.
Deal was first reported by Deadline.
