Watch the Trailer for James Franco’s ‘Child of God’

Written and directed by James Franco, “Child of God” is adapted from Cormac McCarthy’s novel of the same name.

The film tells the story of Lester Ballard, a violent man attempting to exist outside of the social order.  Deprived of parents and housing, and driven by loneliness, Ballard becomes a cave dweller as he falls deeper into crime and degradation.

Scott Haze, one of Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch last year, stars as Ballard, with Jim Parrack (“True Blood”) and Tim Blake Nelson (“Klondike”).  Franco also makes an appearance in the film.

Child of God” hits theaters August 1.
