If the first trailer for Woody Allen’s latest, “Magic in the Moonlight,” is any indication, the France-set drama is lighter fare than last year’s “Blue Jasmine,” bringing back the Allen romcom.

The trailer, released Wednesday, shows Emma Stone as a very convincing spiritualist named Sophia. However, Colin Firth’s character Stanley, who poses as an Asian magician, is skeptical, and sets out to debunk her, which leads to an unlikely love story.

The story is set in France in the 1920s, and jazz, beautiful mansions and fashionable nightspots are also prominently featured. This marks the first real glimpse of the plot, as details had been kept relatively underwraps for some time.

Marcia Gay Harden, Hamish Linklater, Erica Leerhsen, Jacki Weaver, Simon McBurney, Eileen Atkins, Jeremy Shamos and Antonia Clarke also star. The pic, which comes from Sony Pictures Classics, bows July 25.
