‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ to Have Hong Kong World Premiere

Grammy-winning Imagine Dragons provides original song.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” will have its world premiere in Hong Kong, one of the locations of the film, the fourth in the “Transformers” franchise.

Grammy Award-winning band Imagine Dragons is expected to perform live at the opening in the Chinese enclave, on June 19.

The film makes use of the band’s original song “Battle Cry,” which director Michael Bay uses at critical points in the film, in collaboration with the film’s composer Steve Jablonsky and Hans Zimmer, who assisted the process.

“I remember being drawn to the emotion of ’Demons’ and ’Radioactive’ the first time I heard those songs, and I knew I wanted that same energy and heart for this movie. They’ve created a really epic, otherworldly sound for ’Battle Cry’,” said Bay in a statement.

The Paramount Pictures film, which stars Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz, was substantially shot in Hong Kong and multiple locations in mainland China.

It gets its North American release from June 27.
