Entertainment One has appointed former DreamWorks exec Steve Bertram as president of its global film group, the company announced Sept. 15.

Outgoing film topper Patrice Theroux, who joined the entertainment production and distribution company in 2007, has struck a film and TV development deal with eOne.

Bertram will oversee eOne’s film operations in North America, the U.K., Australia/New Zealand, Spain, and Benelux, with a focus on extending eOne’s film production activities and enhancing its international sales operations.

“Our well-established film operation will undoubtedly benefit from Steve’s business acumen, wide-ranging experience in global film distribution, production and financing, as well as his knowledge of emerging technology and evolving consumption trends,” commented eOne CEO Darren Throop. “As we continue to successfully grow our global content platform, we are looking forward to having Steve on board.”

Bertram most recently led new business development and operations for DreamWorks. He held a number of key roles for that company over the years, including supervising the its London-based theatrical marketing and distribution operation, and serving as CFO until the company was sold to Viacom in 2005. He also served as President and COO of Relativity Media, overseeing operations, global distribution, and financing activities.

Theroux will continue to work with eOne through his new development deal. “While it’s very difficult to bid adieu to eOne, I know that I leave each our film teams in the very strong and capable hands of our division leaders,” he said. “I am proud of the business we built and the very many talented partners I had the fortune of working with at eOne, relationships that will undoubtedly continue, and I am looking forward to my next adventures.”
