Sony Buys Melissa Rauch Comedy ‘The Bronze’

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions is going for “The Bronze,” acquiring the comedy starring Melissa Rauch (“The Big Bang Theory”).

Stephanie Langhoff is producing and Jay and Mark Duplass are exec producing for Duplass Brothers Prods. Bryan Buckley is directing from a script by Melissa Rauch and her husband, Winston Rauch.

The film, currently shooting in Ohio, also stars Gary Cole, Thomas Middleditch (“Silicon Valley”), Sebastian Stan, Cecily Strong and Haley Lu Richardson. Rauch plays a foul-mouthed former gymnastics bronze medalist who must fight for her local celebrity status when a young athlete’s star rises in town.

Rauch’s television credits include “True Blood” and “The Office.” Buckley is best known as a commercials director and is attached to direct the Lionsgate comedy “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” starring Reese Witherspoon.

Melissa and Winston Rauch are represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners; Bryan Buckley is represented by WME and George Heller at Apostle Management.
