Sierra/Affinity has promoted Jonathan Kier to president of sales and distribution, three years after coming on board the sales/financing banner as an exec VP.

The promotion was announced Sunday at the Toronto Film Festival. Kier will continue selling international rights to third-party films and acting as the exclusive sales agent for films developed and produced by OddLot Entertainment, Bold Films, Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, Focus Features and Sierra Pictures and partner Incentive Filmed Entertainment.

“Over the last three plus years, Jonathan’s contributions have been invaluable to Sierra/Affinity, as we’ve greatly expanded our business,” said principals Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg. “His knowledge and passion for movies, the international film industry, combined with his sales acumen, make him the perfect executive to lead us through our next wave of growth.

Prior to joining Sierra/Affinity, Kier had worked at The Weinstein Co. as senior VP of international sales and distribution, where he handled sales on over 80 films including “The King’s Speech.” He previously worked for MTV Networks and Marc Platt Prods.

“The leadership at Sierra/Affinity have built a terrific company, and I look forward to working with them as we continue to expand the Sierra/Affinity global brand,” Kier said.
