‘Prometheus’ Sequel Moving Forward With ‘Blade Runner’ Writer

'Prometheus' Sequel Moving Forward With 'Blade

Fox and Ridley Scott are moving forward on a sequel to the 2012 sci-fi hit “Prometheus,” with Michael Green on board to script.

Green worked with Scott last year on a rewrite of the script for a reboot of “Blade Runner” from Alcon Entertainment. Green’s credits include “Smallville,” “Heroes” and “Green Lantern.”

Jack Paglen wrote a script for the “Prometheus” sequel last year.

Fox has not yet dated the sequel. Scott will produce through his Scott Free banner though it’s unknown if he will direct.

“Prometheus” starred Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron. The film was set in the late 21st Century and centered on the spaceship Prometheus seeking the origins of humanity.

“Prometheus,” written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, grossed more than $400 million worldwide.

Green is repped by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorney Patti C. Felker.

The news was first reported by The Wrap.

  1. James Fisher says:

So did I mate, whether Prometheus was the prequal to Alien or Alien was the sequal to Promethius why don’t they say that they are reshooting the Alien films.

    • James Fisher says:

Either way Prometheus was a big disappointment and was not the all action film that it should have been’

  2. Bill says:

I thought the Prometheus sequel was named “Alien”… ;-)

  3. Scott says:

Although I’m skeptical of Green’s abilities since his last foray into feature writing was THE GREEN LANTERN, at least Lindelof isn’t writing it… unless they’re planning on bringing him in again to F-up, errrr, “re-write” the original author’s perfectly good script.

  4. Green’s credits include “Smallville,” “Heroes” and “Green Lantern.” i.e., some of the worst written movies and shows ever.

  5. Amos says:

Awesome news. Looking forward to seeing where they take the story.

  6. end3r says:

Hopefully better than that last crap fest they called a movie. Prometheus was so bad!

  7. James Fisher says:

I thought that Alien was the sequal to Promethius.

  8. Harold Fox says:

The headline is fairly misleading. It’s a guy who re-wrote the unfilmed script for “Blade Runner 2,” not the writer of “Blade Runner.”

  9. Pete Marnash says:

The worst idea of all movie ideas, to do a sequel to that dog “Prometheus.” That tub of lard was so off the mark and poorly scripted (thanks to Lindelof) that I just can’t imagine taking that pithy story any further. What BS!

    • PROMETHEUS was amazing… or did you go in expecting space marines and gun battles?
Can’t wait for the follow up!

      • Adrian Thomson says:

You must be very easily pleased.
PROMETHEUS was total dross, bad plot, bad script, badly directed and lacking any plausibility, it was painful to watch such a totally stupid and tedious film.

      • James Christenson says:

Are you kidding me? The characters were not only completely flat, but acted in illogical ways. The geologist, who mapped the area, gets lost. The biologist tries to hug an unknown species without any form of precaution. The completely unnecessary dialogue that babied the audience along. The whole holographic presentation when the crew first assembles. I could keep going, but I tried to block that garbage out of my mind. I’m only here to read more hilarious comments about how this is the perfect way to continue destroying the legacy that is Ridley Scott.

  10. pjcorvus says:

A reboot of BladeRunner sounds like Blasphemy. Why not repaint the Mona Lisa while your at it?

    • Phanein says:

Actually, people reinterpret & replicate the Mona Lisa all the time. Some museum actually programs to amateur artists so that they can come in and study/paint the masterpiece(s) at the museum. I know a couple in DC that do it every year.

  11. Eric Schatz says:

In which century was the first movie a “sci-fi hit?”

  12. Can’t wait the first Blade runner is a masterpiece !……☆

  13. David says:

I hope they find another director, although it’s hard to imagine the sequel being any dumber than the original.

    • jack says:

      Let James Cameron direct it.

      • Vincent says:

true, Cameron will put some old lady in it and make up more scientifically illogical aliens that glows in the dark.

also in this case about the first being a success? it’s called RECOUPED BUDGET OVERSEAS

  14. Anonymous says:

Really good job spelling the movie title in your headline
