The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has redesigned its Oscars.org website, giving the public more access to material from its archives and to its members, and encouraging fans to join in conversations about Oscar.
The site includes access to 50,000 photos and videos, including 86 years of past Academy Awards; a list of upcoming Academy events and programs, plus a record of past events; AMPAS news and quotes from Academy members in their own words and a “Social Drawer,” which encourages conversations by putting website visitors in touch with the Academy’s social media content.
“It’s a platform that allows fans to access more of what they love most about the Academy – our amazing collection of assets, the expertise of our members, and the original content we create,” said Josh Spector, the Academy’s managing director of digital media and marketing.
The Academy, in conduction with People magazine, is offering the first chance to win tickets to the bleachers along the red carpet on Feb, 22, dubbed the Oscar Fan Experience.
“This site is an extension of our ongoing efforts to inspire, educate and entertain fans worldwide,” said chief marketing officer Christina Kounelias. “Built on decades of history, expertise and passion for film, it’s a site that only the Academy could create.”
