‘On Any Sunday’ Sequel Screening At San Sebastian

Fest's Savage Cinema section to host the European premiere of Dana Brown's docu

MADRID – Spain’s San Sebastian Film Festival will host the European premiere of Dana Brown’s motorcycle riding documentary “On Any Sunday, The Next Chapter” as part of the second edition of its Savage Cinema section, dedicated to action sports and aventure movies.

An exploration into the pursuit of excitement, passion and life in the two-wheeled world of motorcycle riding, “On Any Sunday, The Next Chapter” marks the sequel to Steve McQueen-starrer “On Any Sunday,” a seminal docu helmed by Brown’s father, Bruce Brown, which won an Oscar nomination in 1972.

Bruce Brown, also well know for helming 1966’s classic surfing docu “Endless Summer,” takes an exec producer credit on the “One Any Sunday” sequel.

Produced by Red Bull Media House and Freeride Entertainment, the contemporary installment of the “On Any Sunday” saga features professional riders such as Robbie Maddison, Marc Marquez, Ashley Fiolek, Travis Pastrana, Kenny Roberts or Dani Pedrosa, plus celebrities such as Mickey Rourke.

The Savage Cinema section is the fruit of a pioneering partnership deal inked last year by the San Sebastian Festival and Red Bull Media House.

For its sophomore edition, Savage Cinema has teamed with Northern Spain’s artists collective El Solitario to use El Solitario’s bike Impostor as the section’s poster so as to transmit a radical, powerful and wild image of the motorcycle culture.

The San Sebastian event has also teamed with surf and bikes fest Wheels & Waves, which kicks off Thursday in the French Atlantic city of Biarritz, to premiere a Savage Cinema short film featuring Impostor.

The Savage Cinema section is accepting online submissions from films related to action sports and outdoor adventure in any genre until July 16.

The San Sebastian Film Festival’s 62th edition will run Sept. 19-27.
