Nick Cassavetes will direct the action-thriller “Expiration,” with production set to start in February in Europe.

Belgian production company Corsan will produce along with Emmett/Furla/Oasis. Producers are Corsan CEO Paul Breuls along with Randall Emmett and George Furla.

Corsan made the announcement at the Toronto Film Festival.

Cassavetes, whose credits include “The Notebook,” “My Sister’s Keeper” and “The Other Woman,” will direct from a script by Brian Tucker.

The story centers on a former CIA operative-turned-assassin who is poisoned on assignment. With only 20 hours to live, he sets out to discover who poisoned him in an effort to settle the score before he dies.

Corsan and Breuls are currently shooting Lee Tamahori’s revenge tale “Emperor,” starring Adrien Brody in the title role of Emperor Charles V.

Corsan and Breuls are represented by Paradigm and attorney Harris Tulchin.  Cassavetes is represented by Resolution.
