Miles Teller is in talks to star in the indie drama “The Only Living Boy in New York” with Marc Webb attached to direct.
Allan Loeb penned the script, which tells the tale of a young man who learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, but ends up becoming involved with the woman as well.
Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa are producing.
The film was put on hold as Webb focused on “The Amazing Spider-Man” franchise for Sony. Webb is now weighing “Living Boy” and the Fox Searchlight drama “The Gifted.” With Teller committing though, it now seems likely this will be Webb’s next film — and his first non “Spider-Man” pic since the indie smash “(500) Days of Summer.”
As for Teller, the actor has shown a strong range by jumping from popular commercial pics like the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot at Fox to smaller films like Sony Pictures Classic’s “Whiplash” and “The Spectacular Now.” He can be seen next in Summit’s “Insurgent.”
Teller is repped by CAA.

Like a slow-acting hallucinogen, Chinese director Yang Pingdao’s audaciously strange and sorrowful feature debut works its magic so gradually that it’s with a slight surprise that halfway through you glance down and realize you’re high off the social-realist ground, suspended surreally in the air. At first a gritty tale of feckless men abandoning their families [...]
