Paramount Pictures’ “The Gambler,” starring Mark Wahlberg, will have its world premiere during the American Film Institute’s annual AFI Fest on Nov. 10 at the Dolby Theatre.

The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt from a screenplay by William Monahan, and produced by Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Irwin Winkler, Robert Chartoff and David Winkler. Wahlberg, who stars along with John Goodman, Brie Larson, Michael Kenneth Williams and Jessica Lange, plays an English professor and a high-stakes gambler in this remake of the 1974 film starring James Caan and written by James Toback.

Paramount will release the film on Dec. 19.

The AFI Fest will open Nov. 6 with J.C. Chandor’s “A Most Violent Year” and close on Nov. 13 with Bennett Miller’s “Foxcatcher.” Sophia Loren will be honored with a tribute Nov. 12.
