Magnet Releasing has come on board to fully finance and take worldwide rights to “XX,” a horror anthology featuring all female directors and stars.
The project was first unveiled a year ago at the American Film Market by XYZ Films, which remains the producer. The anthology will be comprised of short horror films by Karyn Kusama (“Girlfight”), Mary Harron (“American Psycho”) Jennifer Lynch (“Surveillance”) and Jovanka Vuckovic.
“The directors have been given free creative rein within budget and time constraints, but all of the segments themselves will involve the horror genre,” Magnet said.
Dwjuan Fox will serve as supervising producer for all segments of the film.
Magnolia will be repping the film at AFM next month. “XX” will be completed next year.
The deal was negotiated by Magnolia’s Peter Van Steemburg and Chris Matson with Todd Brown and Nick Spicer of XYZ Films. Dwjuan Fox will serve as supervising producer for all segments of the film.
