Lionsgate has released a new trailer for Johnny Depp’s “Mortdecai,” replete with Peters Sellers-style slapstick, a fake mustache and upper-crust accent.
The plot calls for Mortdecai to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold. “We must come up with a fiendishly clever plan,” he tells his manservant, played by a gruff Paul Bettany.
“We grab the painting when no one’s looking,” Bettany suggests.
The clip also features Olivia Munn portraying “a well-known nymphomaniac,” and Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth Paltrow affecting their poshest English accents. Tally ho!
“Mortdecai” opens Jan. 23.
