Radius has acquired U.S. rights to horror vehicle “It Follows,” starring Maika Monroe, after it screened in Cannes as part of Critics Week.

The movie, directed by David Robert Mitchell (“The Myth of the American Sleepover”) from his own script, centers on a teenager plagued by disturbing visions and the inescapable sense that something is following her after a sexual encounter.

Financed by Animal Kingdom and Northern Lights, the film was produced by Rebecca Green, Laura D. Smith, Mitchell, David Kaplan and Erik Rommesmo. The cast includes Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Jake Weary,  Olivia Luccardi (“Girls”) and Lili Sepe.

Radius plans a first quarter 2015 release.

Variety’s Peter Debruge said in his Cannes review that the film contains a ” haunting evocation of adolescent anxiety and yearning.”

Cinetic made the deal with Radius.
