The American Film Institute has selected Sony Pictures Classics’ “Foxcatcher” as the AFI Fest closing night film on Nov. 13 at the Dolby Theatre.

“Foxcatcher,” directed by Bennett Miller and starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller, was orignally scheduled to have its world premiere at last year’s AFI Fest but then pulled from the lineup after Sony Classics pushed the release until this year.

The psychological drama premiered at Cannes, where Miller won the director prized. The film chronicles the events leading up to the 1996 murder of Olympic wrestling champion Dave Schultz.

Variety’s Justin Chang said in his Cannes review that the film was “powerfully disturbing.”

AFI has already set J.C. Chandor’s “A Most Violent Year” at its opening night film on Nov. 6.
