Filmfest Hamburg to Present Producer’s Award

LONDON — The newly created Hamburg Producer Award will be presented for the first time at this year’s edition of Filmfest Hamburg.

The prize is worth 50,000 euros ($68,400) and will be awarded to German producers for outstanding achievements. The award is intended to promote and celebrate the work of producers of both German television productions and European film co-productions.

The award will be presented at Filmfest Hamburg in two categories: German television production, and European film co-production with German participation. The German producers of the winning films will each receive 25,000 euros ($34,200).

The winners of each category will be selected by a three-person jury. The award ceremony will take place at the beginning of October during Filmfest Hamburg.

The prize money for the best television production will be provided by the VFF (Collecting Society for Film and Television Producers), while the prize money for the best European film co-production (with German participation) will be provided by the Kulturbehörde Hamburg (Hamburg Department of Culture) via the Filmförderung Hamburg.

German television film productions and European film co-productions with German participation can be submitted from now until July 28.
