Screen Media has acquired North American rights to the farm worker documentary “Food Chains,” executive produced by Eva Longoria and narrated by Forest Whitaker.

“Food Chains,” which debuted at the Berlin Film Festival, includes interviews with Longoria, exec producer Eric Schlosser, Dolores Huerta, Barry Estabrook, Kerry Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The film is set in southern Florida, where a group of farm workers battles the global supermarket industry and reveals the abuse of farm laborers in the United States.

Screen Media plans to qualify the film for an Academy Award for best documentary feature with a traditional platform release in theaters later this year.

“Food Chains” is directed by Sanjay Rawal and produced by Smriti Keshari, Rawal and Hamilton Fish. Besides Longoria and Schlosser, exec producers are Lekha Singh, David Damian Figueroa, Bob Leary, Alfonso Montiel, Roberto Gonzalez Barrera and Alisa Swidler.

Visit Films licensed the film to Screen Media.
